The 2008 Summer Trophy was held at the beautiful Burhill Course at Walton-on-Thames and it proved a very popular venue for all the members. We presented a coach to Ridgeway Community School in Farnham before the off and as always it was great to see the children so excited about their new bus. The weather gods were on our side once again and so we were able to enjoy the magnificent Old Course on a perfect day. The course was in great condition although the rough was very testing and to be avoided at all costs. Sponsors Mike Spanswick and Pip Burley were joined on the tee by Jerry Stevens and Sir Henry and they enjoyed a great social round with all admitting it had been 'tough' .
Drinks on the terrace were followed by an excellent dinner and prize-giving. Dean Whiting was the winner again this year scoring a very creditable 36 points off a handicap of 7 (now 6!) with Nigel Croxford coming in second with 35 points. All were agreed that we would return next year.
